Below are my first three boards showcasing my design explorations for my current studio project. Because the program is looking for something universal, yet contemporary restaurant, I would really like to dabble in the use of concrete construction through modern design techniques.
On my boards, I stated the program for the project, explored three different case studies, listed some precedents closely related to this project, and conducted some preliminary site analysis.
I would really like my design to follow both site-cast and pre-cast methods of concrete construction and allow for an easy, modular construction. Please enjoy and provide some thoughts!
I really like some of your case studies that you have researched and you should really take a look St. John's Abbey located in Collegeville, MN. It was designed by a hungarian architect Marcel Breuer and constructed in 1961. I suggest the next time you go down to the cities take a stop on the way and take a look for yourself. It is remarkable.
